Having the island of Lefkada as a base, you can enjoy a whole week of holidaying by heading for northern Ionian Sea and relishing the islands of Paxoi, Antipaxoi, Corfu as well as Parga and Syvota. Alternatively, you could head for the south of the Ionian Sea where you could visit Meganisi, Kalamos, Kastos, Ithaki (also known as Ithaka), Kefalonia as well as Zante. You could also opt for a trip with the marina of Corfu as a departure point.
Wind Conditions: Relatively Easy (Breezy)
Sailing Level: Generally Easy
The wind conditions as well as the sailing level of difficulty in the Ionian Sea are ideal and predictable. From May till September, the wind blows from the North West, with the intensity varying from 2 until 5 on the Beaufort Scale. There might be some occasional gusts of wind on the left side of the islands due to the high mountains in some of them.
How to get to the boat.
Southern Ionian Sea
The point of departure is the marina of Lefkada. Flights take place from and to the airport of Aktio (in Preveza), which is approximately 20 minutes by taxi. Lefkada is connected with mainland Greece via an iron bridge which is opened a few times day so that it can allow the entry of various boats.
Northern Ionian Sea
The starting point is the Gouvia marina, which is approximately 15 minutes away from Corfu International Airport, and also very close to the central port of Corfu, for those arriving from Igoumenitsa (mainland Greece).
